Our Work
Research, products, and the platform beneath them.
Capably Human does three connected things. It studies how people and AI can become more capable together, tests what works, and publishes what it learns. It builds products that put that research to work, beginning with Humably. And it builds the Capability Fitness Platform that both run on. Each strengthens the others.
How It Fits Together
One company, designed to reinforce itself
Research informs what we design. Design becomes products. Products create real-world evidence. Evidence sharpens the research, and the value the products create funds the next round. The loop is the company.

Research
Designing and testing how people and AI work together
The research asks how to design human-AI interaction so that humans and AI become more capable together. Its foundation is the Capability Fitness Framework, an open, testable proposal for human capability in the age of AI: one meant to be critiqued, refined, and extended through rigorous research, and shared so that educators, researchers, technologists, policymakers, and families can build on it.
Its claims are hypotheses, and Capably Human is designing trials to test them. The trials will compare ways of working with AI (the AI drafting first or the person attempting first, explaining or asking questions, agreeing or challenging, full delegation or structured hand-offs) and measure performance, learning, judgment, and independence. Findings will be published as Capably Human Reports. The research is deliberately broader than any single product, and its first obligation is to the integrity of the work itself.
Programs of work
Frameworks and foundational publications
The conceptual foundations of Capability Fitness, beginning with the framework that defines human capability in the age of artificial intelligence and the model of the capabilities themselves. The rules of engagement for working with AI are published as a free one-page check (CH-I-001), a model (CH-M-002) and a guide (CH-G-002).
The rules of engagementEvidence briefs and research reviews
Curating and synthesizing established research across disciplines into focused, practical summaries of what the evidence does and does not yet support.
Trials and Reports
Trials, now being designed, that compare ways of working with AI. Their findings will be published as Capably Human Reports, with methods, limitations, and next steps.
Measurement approaches
Ways to observe development that support feedback and growth rather than ranking: a dashboard, not a report card.
The research library
A growing, open collection of frameworks, models, guides, books, and articles, each connecting established research back to the Capability Fitness framework.
Public education and guidance
Translating research into practical guidance for educators, families, students, technologists, and policymakers.
How we hold our conclusions
Evidence before certainty
The Capability Fitness Framework is a proposal, and its claims are hypotheses we test. Its definitions and models remain open to critique, testing, and revision.
Development before classification
Our work should help people and institutions support growth, not label, sort, or rank human worth.
Transparency before promotion
Findings, limitations, uncertainties, and conflicts are communicated clearly and honestly.
Collaboration before authority
Research on Capability Fitness is interdisciplinary. We convene and connect rather than claim to answer alone.
Products
Humably: better at working with AI, on your own work
Humably makes you better at working with AI by coaching you with the rules of engagement on your own decisions and work: what to delegate and what to keep, when to trust and when to challenge, when to let it run and when to step in. You leave each session with a better result, and the app is designed to make you more capable over time. It is the Capability Fitness Platform made into an app and Capably Human’s first venture, and its Alpha is also the company’s first Capability Fitness study.
Get better at working with AI. Use AI. Stay capable.
Built first for work. Made for a whole life.
Humably starts with people whose work runs on AI and judgment, because that is where the rules of engagement matter most and where the Alpha begins. It is one app, not a family of editions: the same principles hold at school and in retirement, and the practice adapts to the person using it.
At work
People whose work runs on judgment, at any stage of a career.
AI drafts the memo and recommends the decision. Humably coaches better decisions with AI: your view first, then the pressure-test, and a deliberate call on what to hand to AI and what to keep.

Students, and the parents and teachers around them.
AI can write the essay and solve the problem set. Humably helps students use AI without losing the learning, with practice built from their own schoolwork and AI used as a tutor, never a ghostwriter.

People with more time, and a lifetime of judgment.
AI can answer any question and weigh any choice. Humably helps people work with AI with confidence, on their own terms, and think through the decisions that matter.

The Platform
One foundation, many applications
Beneath Humably sits the Capability Fitness Platform: the capability engine Capably Human builds once and applies everywhere. It powers Humably today and will power every application after it.
The platform treats a person’s request as material for their development while still getting them to a better result. That runs through the whole design. It is not a learning mode added on top of an output engine.
Five connected experiences
Bring your work
Bring what’s in front of you: a decision at work, a question from class, a choice at home. Already working it through with ChatGPT or Claude? Bring that too, with your own view kept separate from what the AI contributed.
Coaching, by the rules
A real problem gets real help first. The coach asks for your own view, helps you test it, and makes the three calls explicit: what you hand to AI and what you keep, what in its output you trust and what you check, where you let it run and where you step in.
Capability Fitness Profile
After the first session, a short written read that opens with how you work with AI, then how you think: at least one strength and one thing to grow. No score, no rank, no label.
Personalized Training
Sessions of five to fifteen minutes, built from your own material, including replays of your own AI use. You attempt first; hints come one step at a time; feedback names the move.
Progress & Reflection
A short review of how your way of working with AI is moving, what you now do on your own, and whether it showed up outside the app: at work, at school, or at home.
Grounded in the Capability Model
Everything the platform does is grounded in the Capability Fitness Framework and works across the Capability Model’s five domains: Think, Learn, Focus, Create, and Adapt. How you use AI is treated as a lens across all five, not a sixth domain, and it looks both ways: at handing off thinking too early, and at under-using AI where it would help. Humably’s promise is that you get better at working with AI; Capability Fitness is what that practice is designed to build, and the trials being designed will test whether it does.
Designed to step back
- Help comes first, never a lesson standing in the way of it
- No numbers, no ranking, no comparison with anyone else
- No points, badges, or leaderboards, and no guilt when you are away
- Support that recedes as your own capability grows
Work With Us
Three connected things. Many ways in.
Researchers, institutions, technology teams, funders, and early adopters each have a place in this work: in the research, in the products, or in the platform beneath them.
